Guru, God and Self are Synonymous - Sri Sri
Indian culture has always held the guru in high esteem. Having a master was not just considered a matter of pride, but it was mandatory to have a guru. Not having a master was looked down upon as being an orphan, being poor and a sign of misfortune. The word anatha in Sanskrit means one without a master. An acharya (teacher) gives shiksha, which means knowledge; Guru gives diksha, which means heightened awareness.
A guru does not simply stuff you with knowledge but he kindles life force in you. In the presence of the guru you become more alive. The pinnacle of intellect is awakened intelligence. The guru invokes not only intelligence but also the intellect in you. Knowledge may not invoke intelligence, but in intelligence, knowledge is inherent.
Whether you like it or not, the guru principle pervades your life. Your mother is your first guru and then from science to spirituality, from birth to death, guru principle permeates your life. There is a guru for every discipline - a religious guru (dharma), a family guru (kula), a rajguru (guru for the kingdom), a vidya guru (guru for a particular discipline) and a sat guru (spiritual guru).
In the Upanishads five signs of sat guru are mentioned. In the presence of the sat guru; Knowledge flourishes (Gyana raksha); Sorrow diminishes (Dukha kshaya); Joy wells up without any reason (Sukha aavirbhava); Abundance dawns (Samriddhi); All talents manifest (Sarva samvardhan).
Mind is connected with the moon and full moon is a symbol of completion and pinnacle of celebration. Among the 12-13 full moons in a year the vaishakha full moon is dedicated to Buddha (his birth and enlightenment), jyeshtha full moon to mother earth and the aashadha full moon is dedicated to the memory of masters. This is Guru-poornima. Gurupoornima is also called Vyasa Poornima. Vyasa is the embodiment of scriptural knowledge as well as experience. When a guru or acharya delivers a talk the seat is called Vyasa peetha.
Vyasa is familiar with every avenue of existence, both material and spiritual. There is a saying Vyaso chishtam jagat sarwam that means there is nothing under the sun that Vyasa has not touched upon.
As no sanchita karma is left in an embodied guru, self shines through, which becomes very obvious in the presence of the guru. But all those qualities that you appreciate in a guru are also in your very nature. Being with the guru is like being with one's higher self. Guru, God and one's own self are synonymous. Often one recognises wisdom but sees a gap between wisdom and one's own life. The purpose of becoming a disciple is to bridge that gap. Being with a guru means spontaneous integration of life and wisdom. Respecting the guru simply means honouring your innermost nature.
Gurupoornima is the day when the disciple wakes up in his fullness and in the wakefulness he can't be but grateful. This gratitude is not of dwaita (you and me), but of advaita. It is not a river moving from somewhere to somewhere, but is the ocean moving within itself. So, gratefulness on Guru-poornima symbolises that fullness. The purpose of the Guru poornima celebration is to turn back and review and see in this last one year how much one has progressed in life.
For a seeker, Guru poornima is a day of significance. It is the day to review one's progress on the spiritual path and renew one's determination and focus on the goal. As the full moon rises and sets, tears of gratitude arise and repose into the vastness of one's own self.

My experience with Guruji-as shared by a teacher
My mother who is now 72 yrs was feeling very tired
drowzy and had severe vomiting sensation for about a weeks
time. So we had taken her to Apollo hospital in Bangalore.
After thorough investigations doctors diognised it as renal
failure. He also suggested for dialysis. It was a
shocking news for all of us. ImmediatelyI I took her to
Guruji who was present in Bangalore.
In the ashram at that time after listening to my mom
Guruji blessed her and said "Dont worry Be
Courageous".
To everyones surprise within a weeks time we found
lots of changes in her health . Her creatinine level which
was 9+ considerably came down to 2 after taking small dosage
of SRISRI AYURVEDA .MEDICINES.
Now my mother is able to take care of my play home
cook for 22 kids and my family. She has been advised 2 times
Kriya daily. Doctors and Nephrologist in Apollo hospital are
still wandering around the mystery.
Thanks to Guruji for his grace on me and my family.

12 Qualities to become a good leader - Sri Sri
1 : A leader doesn’t just order things; he does it so that others can do it.
2 : A leader takes good care of those whom he is leading.
3 : He doesn’t create followers.
A good leader creates leaders. And then chain action happens. A leader should delegate responsibility.
4 : A leader does not depend on authority.
He just does a thing, whether authority is invested or not. It comes by itself.
5 : He does not worry about position..
The respect that you gain through virtue is very different from the respect you gain through the position. The respect you get through a position is short-lived and temporary. But the respect that you gain just because of your smile, your attitude, your virtues are there with you all the time.
You may be a chairman of this committee, a president of that committee, or you are barrister here or governor of that state — these are all momentary, temporary. They come and they go. And the respect you get because of this position is not genuine, it is not from the heart, it is not true. But the respect you gain because you are a nice person, is genuine, it lasts long. It is spontaneous.
6 : A leader is alert and when challenges come, he is not disturbed.
A good leader is one who does not drop things when challenges appear. (Read : Do not shy away from criticism )
7 : A good leader is one who does not care for comfort, but who stretches himself beyond the comfort zone.
Anything creative, dynamic and great can happen only when you stretch beyond your comfort zone where we are often struck. We think we cannot do something: just make an effort and put one step ahead, and you will find that that you are expanding your comfort zone. Creativity transcends your comfort zone. Or, when you step out of the comfort zone, your creativity comes into play.
8 : A leader should not mix head and heart.
If you mix head and heart, you are in a mess! When you have to work, you work with commitment and you live with your head. In life, in situations other than when you are working, listen to your heart.
9 : A good leader should be multidimensional and see from the other’s point of view.
Put yourself in other person’s shoes, look from the other person’s point of view.
10 : The leader doesn’t depend on one-sided information.
When you get some news from one side, don’t take any decision or conclusion till you hear from the other side also. Leader should be a good communicator.
11 : A leader should have a direct approach.
12 : A good leader does not judge himself.
You have this tendency of judging yourself, “Am I good? I’m no good.” The self-judgment is an obstruction. Stop doing that. Don’t judge yourself. When you judge yourself, you are judging others also. Then you oscillate like a pendulum. If you feel you’re good, then you are saying that others are not so good. So when you find that others are good, and then you feel that you are no good, you blame yourself. Judgment is very similar to self-blame and blaming others. We have to get out of this vicious circle of self-judgment. That is also the state of surrender. When you have surrendered to the Divine that means that you no longer judge yourself. Self-judgment is not necessary. A child is so innocent, why? Because the child doesn’t judge itself.
Faith
Celebration is the nature of the spirit. Any celebration must be spiritual. A celebration without spirituality has no depth. Silence gives depth to celebration.”
"Look at the water. Even the fall of water is beautiful. If a rock falls it shatters, but when water falls it generates power and beauty. Being somebody is like being a stone; being nobody is like being the water; being everybody is like being water vapor.”
If you think your faith in God does God a favor, you are mistaken. Your faith in God or your guru does nothing for God or guru. Faith is your wealth.
Faith gives you strength instantly. Faith brings you stability, centeredness, calmness and love. Faith is your blessing. But here is a paradox: If you lack faith, you have to pray for faith. Yet to pray, you need faith.
People put their faith in the world, but the whole world is just a soap bubble. People have faith in themselves, but they do not know who they are. People think they have faith in God, but they do not really know who God is.
There are three types of faith:
1. Faith in yourself – Without faith in yourself, you think, “I cannot do this. This is not for me. I will never find freedom in this life.”
2. Faith in the world – You must have faith in the world or you cannot move an inch. You deposit money in the bank with the faith it will be returned. If you doubt everything, nothing will work for you.
3. Faith in the Divine – Have faith in the Divine and you will evolve.
All these faiths are connected. You must have all three for each to be strong. If you start doubting one, you will begin to doubt everything.
Having faith in the world without having faith in God does not bring complete peace. If you have faith and love, you automatically have peace and freedom. People who are extremely disturbed should have faith in God to help them with their problems.
There is a difference between faith and confidence. Faith is the beginning. Confidence is the result. Faith in yourself brings freedom. Faith in the world brings you

Experiences of Guru Poornima 2009 with Satguru @ Chicago
This was the first time i attended Guru Purnima celebration n my first AOL event in states as well.. earlier to this i did all my courses in Bangalore Ashram and hadnt met any AOL members @ states.. so when i booked for advance course .. i was wondering how it would be ..not knowing anyone in the event other than Gurudev himself :-) .. but thot its more than enough to know Gurudev and HE will take care of the rest ..
the day i was leaving to chicago i received a call from one of the organizers .. asking me to be a group leader for the advance course as it had arnd 1000 participants.
once i reached the venue met that teacher (Gaurav) who happened to be incharge of our advance course and meditation hall(where satsangs happened everyday).. so right away i started seva with few others in arranging big hall and we really had fun time doing so .. people came in asking me for some seva and we all enjoyed sharing n distributing seva .. i was so busy that few organizers asked me to take one hour break before satsang .. even before i could think of taking a break..the teacher incharge of Guruji's stage .. came up to me ..gave me silk cloth, aasan and everything which needs to go on stage n asked me to arrange everything all alone .. i was more than surprised ..cudnt thank Gurudev enough for giving me this wonderful opportunity .. after arranging everything i was right next to the stage .. incase Guruji needs anything..
that night Gurudev came in late for satsang directly from airport ..it was around 9 pm .. was so happy to meet HIM after one year n one month.. juz a glance n smile from HIM was enough for the tears to roll down.. .. everyone's face brightened .. HE sang b'fully and before leaving asked us to sleep with these words.. " Baby i am there to take care of you" He asked us to juz be with the voice and not to put a face to it ..
we were a big crowd in our part II course .. and each group had 50 - 55 members and we had amazing teachers who made our exp so special.. this was the first time i was attending any course with Tanu Maa .. we all are very familiar with Rishiji ..but not as much with Tanu Maa .. during this course found out that she's as amazing as Rishiji himself .. her experiences made everyone feel @ home and after each meditation when Gurudev says Asangoham punah punaha.. tht was the sweetest voice i cud eva wake up with after going deep in each meditation ..n become more n more hollow n empty ..
Everyday @ noon we had Bhagwad Gita sessions with Gurudev (was waiting for this opportunity for over a year to listen Gita from Krsna himself ) the way HE explains .. makes it so simple and so many stories to accompany made us want more n more .. and it was followed by guided meditation by Gurudev .. this was outta world experience ..coz i cud feel HIS presence thro' out every meditation and also was covered with Sandalwood fragrance (juz another reason for tears to roll down) .. it was so easy to go deep within and also saw something like a movie ..was able to hear voices as well .. cudnt feel any more blessed .. i remember Gurudev saying that Guru Poornima is the time for any seeker to feel that gratitude.. look back n see the spiritual growth happened in one year .. i could feel this gratitude grow more n more every moment as each experience was betta than the previous one..
evening satsangs were totally divine .. Gurudev sang a bhajan Hari Narayan Hare .. this was the first time i eva heard that bhajan ..and it was so melodious to hear it from HIM .. maybe this sounds crazy ..but Love towards Divine multiplied every moment .. felt like saying ..his smile is so cute .. his words are so sweet .. his sessions are outta world ..guided meditation totally blissful :-).. not once did i feel the craving to rush behind him or wait for him ..or go to his kutir (pent house) and meet HIm .. coz i cud feel his presence every moment ..
but HE amazed me with so many surprises .. i met HIM in elevator .. juz while walking down the corridor .. and best of all was the day i wanted to gift Bhanu didi a saree .. came to know that she was with Guruji when i went to her room .. was hesitating to go to Gurudev's kutir as it wud be crowded .. so while i was telling my friend that i hesitate to go to his kutir ... the elevator opened and Gurudev was standing right there .. with so many behind HIM .. was way too surprised .. He was juz 2 " away from me.. standing there smiling .. was totally excited seeing HIM .. hugged HIM :-)
He also met us one - one state wise .. and had a chance to speak with him for long ..gave HIM all the letters from the members of the community..
every evening many devotees would go for a walk with Gurudev in the park front of the hotel ..
finally it was Guru Poornima Day and we were all still in silence.. we had space meditation before coming outta silence.. in this meditation when Gurudev asks us to travel miles in each direction .. i saw a marble Idol of Lord Krsna .. so afterwards asked my friend if theres a Krsna temple in that direction ..cudnt belv myself whn she confirmed d same being in chicago .. so after coming outta silence .. we had a chance to meet Gurudev one-one and had taken Angavastra to gift HIM on Guru Poornima day ..cudnt feel more blessed to gift Angavastra and Guru Dakshina to Gurudev on this blissful day
evening around 5 pm we had Guru Puja .. this was the first time i saw Gurudev doing Guru Puja .. and after that all of us sang Guru Paduka Stotram .. felt so divine to be inmdist of a crowd of 3000 on Guru Purnima Day..
next day again had Gurudev's darshan twice and before leaving i visited HIM and took prasad for my children .. till date tht smile is fixed n feels like my heart n soul is with HIM .. totally hollow n empty ...still in tht blissful state ..
would suggest that once in our lifetime all of us should be with our Guru on Guru Poornima Day, miracles happen way beyond our imagination !!!

Guru Stories told by Gurudev himself
This incident happened 2 decades back ..
Guruji was travelling in Delhi with an elderly couple and his assistant. The elderly couple had to get off half way and go elsewhere ..then Guruji insisted that they take his car while HE and his assistant got off the car to take an auto to reach their destination.
The auto driver was overwhelmed to see Gurudev wanting to travel by his auto ..at the sametime he was very hesitant .. He told Guruji not to mind the posters which he had put in the auto .. Gurudev said that he doesn't mind one bit.. then the driver continued saying ..the poster of the Lord he likes to put is formless .. .so he put those filmi posters ..
and continued saying that "now that i have found the form of my Lord .. i will replace it very soon" .. and also told Gurudev in sucha simpler language .. this auto is given by HIM, HE is the driver and HE is the passenger as well .. (Tears rolled down to many who were present there ..when this sentence was told by Guruji himself)
and when Gurudev got down and wanted to pay him the charge for the ride.. the driver said that I took you to your destination and you took me to mine ..so there's no charge ..it cancels out :-)
Imagine even the Auto driver could speak philosophy in the presence of a Satguru
Another story told by Guruji
While he was narrating the story of Auto driver.. he happened to remember another story as well ..
couldnt stop laughing while he was explaining what an auto was to the audience in states ..
Gurudev said Auto Rickshaw is a three wheeler ..and to knw what it is ..u have to take a ride once ..and if u reach ur destination safe ..u have to thank the Lord ..and then told us this story..
itseems once a priest and an Auto driver passed away and Auto driver was taken to heaven while the priest was taken to hell. Priest felt that this is injustice or there must be some mistake in the records @ heaven ..so he asked to double check if he was supposed to go to hell while the auto driver to heaven.. they checked the records in the heaven and said ..we dont have any mistakes usually but if u want we will double check.
while they checked their records they found that auto driver made people remember god more than the priest ..thats why he was taken to heaven while the priest to hell..
Story about a Poisonous snake
Accept people(animals) and situations as they are
He said that once there was a poisonous cobra in the ashram which was suffering from food poison .. inspite of it being poisonous they took the cobra to the vet and after getting it cured .. they had to bring it back to the ashram .. not knowing where to leave it .. then later they took it far into the woods and leave it there ..
so he was saying sometimes they have so much trouble in the ashram when such situations arise and they have to follow the sutras in real life too .. not juz teaching it ..
Applying sutras in real life
Guruji told how difficult Sutras can turn out to be in real life sometimes ..
for Accepting people and situation as they are ..
In the ashram once there was robbery going on everyday during satsang .. things were missing from rooms and they couldnt find out who the thief was .. after few days of searching ..they came to know that there was a pregnant lady who was stealing from all the rooms .. she had a spanner and few other things in her bag and went around ashram stealing..
then they caught her n took her to the police station. there they refused to keep her as they didnt have any facilities for a pregnant lady in the police station. now they had to bring her back to ashram ..and Gurudev asked Ashramites to give her a room, food, clothing and ask her calmly as to why she was stealing in sucha condition. Ashramites were perplexed Gurudev asking them to accept a thief as she is n over that provide her with all the facilities..

Knowledge from Gurudev on Guru Poornima
The Guru principle is so vital in life. The first guru is Dakshinamurthy, the embodiment of infinity woven so skillfully in the finite that the finite and infinite co-exist. There is an element of the guru in every human being. That wisdom in each one has to be invoked and awakened.
When this element is awakened, misery in life disappears. It is the medicine for misery; the wealth of all knowledge.
Gurave sarva lokanaam – the Divine Consciousness is the leading light of the whole world-of all the worlds.
Bishaje bhava roginaam – It is the medicine for the ills of society, of life, of misery. It removes all misery.
Nidhaya sarva vidyanaam Sri Dakshinamurthaye namaha – I take refuge in this Consciousness which is in my heart!
The word guru is used today to mean expertise – like an expert in business management. Guru means enormous, the biggest. Of course, expertise is a part of it. There is perfection in everything. There is that depth.
In our consciousness, wisdom comes to life when the guru tattva comes to life. When we have no desires of our own, then the guru tattva dawns in our life. Do you ever wish to do something for someone without expecting anything from them? Then you have played the role of the guru. The mother is the first guru. Then there are the teachers – the veena teacher and so on. The Satguru gives you knowledge of the truth, the ultimate reality, spiritual knowledge.
On Guru Purnima, one must reflect, “Where was I before I got this knowledge? Where am I now?” When you see the contrast of where you were without this knowledge, then gratitude wells up.
This full moon is also called Vyasa Purnima. Vyasa categorized the entire lore of wisdom into the 4 vedas, the Upanishads, the upavedas, the 27 smritis, 27 upasmritis – a huge lore of knowledge pertaining to every aspect of life from ayurveda to architecture to alchemy to medicine. This full moon is named after him.
This day we remember the contribution of all those who have been on this planet for the wellbeing of the human race. We remember what they have done. We see the contrast (brought about by spiritual knowledge) in our lives and feel grateful.
How fortunate you are to perceive the infinity within you - in this finite framework of the body-mind complex. The body and mind are finite but the expression of the spirit is infinity.
For the Seeker, the New Year is from Guru Purnima to Guru Purnima. When it is half way for the rest of the world, we celebrate one whole year on the spiritual path. One year towards the Divine manifestation in our life. One year towards feeling the oneness and seeing the world through the eyes of the guru. That is the guiding star for us. Let me do that which a guru, a wise person would have done in this situation. A wise person would never react. He would respond. You will learn by putting yourself in that position (of the guru or wise person) again and again - by attempting infinite patience, immense intelligence, complete compassion and unblemished joy.
Nobody knows when the tradition started. Billions of years before, on this earth, so many sages and rishis have been there and so many in the future too. We thank all those in the past, present and the future for the continuation of wisdom on this dear planet. Without wisdom it is not living, only existing. Life begins with wisdom.
This Guru Purnima think about all the blessings that you have received and feel grateful. Everyone sing and let go and be immersed in the inner bliss.

What is Love
Q:what is love?
A:Love is not an action. it is our very nature. However it is love that brings all the problems in the world!
Greed , anger and jeolousy are all distortions of love. When love comes with knowledge, there are no distortions.
Q:What is the difference between unconditional and conditional love?
A:Conditional love is like business!
"If you do things the way i like them, then i will love you!"- this is conditional love. However your likes and dislikes change.
Unconditional love is accepting that "everything is changing".Inspite of these changes, unconditional love remains intact.
Q:Doesn't love and the expectation which comes with it cause stress?
A:There can be many causes of stress , but self knowledge and meditation can eliminate them.
Q:Why is it that people we love the most hurt us the most?
A:Hurt is a part of love. when u accept this, love takes on a new dimension, and you go beyond hurt ,pain and other negative emotions.
Q:How do you deal with the situation where you love someone and you are not loved back?
A:Its a challenge!
Your love is not dependent on their love.Love is not a business!Ilove you because i have no choice but to love!Love is not an action. it is a state!Either you
express love in its natural form, or its opposites(like jeolusy, greed and hatred)get formed.
Q:What are the signs of love?
A:When you love someone, you dont see anything wrong in him or her.
even if you see fault in them, you justify the fault and say," Well everyone does it!its normal." You think you have not done enough for them. The more you do the more you want to do for them. They are always in your mind.
Ordinary things become extraordinary!(for eg, a baby winking at its grand mother)
You want them to be yours exclusively, When you love someone , you want to see them happy, and you want them to have the best.
Five Types of Dreams
There are five types of dreams.
1. One is that which comes up in the form of cravings or your unfulfilled desires. They appear in dreams as fulfillment. Have you experienced this? Your latent desires always show up in your dreams.
2. The second type of dream is stress release from the past. All you have experienced in life comes up as dreams.
3. The third type of dream is an intuitive dream — where you think of what might happen in the future.
4. The fourth type of dream has nothing to do with any of these. It is to do with the place where you are sleeping. For instance, if you are sleeping in a hotel in Italy, in your dream, you may experience Italian sounds and feelings.
5. The fifth type of dream is a mixture of the four. You never know one from the other. So you cannot really distinguish a dream and say, "this is my intuitive dream". It could be, it need not be. A wise person would simply brush them aside.
******
Q. Should we follow the advice we get in dreams?
Sri Sri: There are five sources for dreams:
1. Your dreams may come from your desires
2. Your dreams may come from your fears
3. Your dreams may be delusions
4. Your dreams may be premonitions of future events
5. Your dreams may be a result of the place you are sleeping in
We experience different things in our dreams. Usually, our dreams are a mixture of the above. Our dreams are of things from the past, future, and of various types.
Don't analyze your dreams too much. If a dream comes, let it come, and just go ahead with your life.

Three Point formula - Observe, Filter, Surrender (OFS) and CIC
Knowledge by Rishiji ..
This whole consciousness is made up of 5 elements ( earth, water, fire, air and ether) and it has 3 Gunas ( satva, rajas and tamas) and 3 Doshas ( vata, pitta and kafa). In this universal consciousness we are all small jeevas which has taken this present form after having a continuous journey from thousands of years. This life consists of all events and these events have two parts, one is the outer world which includes people, situation and objects and second is the inner world which consists of mind, intellect, memory and ego. What we perceive in the outer world is the reflection of the inner world into the outer world. The quality of our life completely depends upon the state of the inner world.
The inner world has two types of tendencies, clishta ( which pulls oneself down) and aclishta( which uplifts one self). To maintain the blissful inner world its necessary to get rid of the clishta tendencies (Rishiji had asked us to make list of our own clishta and aclishta tendencies). There is a three point formula to do this. Observe, Filter and Surrender(OFS). Observe the inner world, with the help of intelligence filter the clista and aclishta tendencies, and finally take a deep breath in, remember Guruji and with an outgoing breath surrender the clishta tendencies. This requires a practice. ( Rishiji advised to practice it regularly, may be at the start we may take help of alarms to remember ourself to do so!)
There are 6 enemies which distorts the love within the inner world, they are Kama, Krodha, Moha( attachment to the people), Lobha( attachment to the objects), Mada( feeling of me, mine),Matsar( jealousy or feeling good if someone is suffering). These are all the negative or clishta tendencies of the inner world. If you are Prem may ( nature of the inner world) then these enemies are not there and if you want to get rid of these enemies you need to be Prem may! Use OFS to maintain or to return to your Prem may state of the inner world! To use OFS you need to have CIC!! You need to have a Commitment to be Prem may, sharp Intelligence to filter the tendencies and Connection with Guruji! ( Connection becomes more strong with Shraddha and Shraddha can be increased only by praying to have it more!!)

Fear is Love standing upside down
Emotions play an important part in our daily lives. Fear is one such emotion that is pre-programmed into all animals and people as an instinctual response to potential danger.
Whenever a boundary is broken, it creates some fear. The fear creates dislike. This dislike puts us back in the boundary. And to keep yourself in the boundary you put forth defenses. When you try to defend your position, it is such a stress, isn't it? And every time you try to defend your position it makes you more and more weak.
The Usefulness of Fear
Nature has put an amount of inbuilt fear in all living beings. This fear makes life defend itself, protect itself. Like salt in the food, a little bit of fear is essential for people to be righteous.
Fear of Death preserves Life.
Fear of Wrong keeps the Right.
Fear of Sickness brings Hygiene.
Fear of Misery keeps you Righteous.
Fear of hurting someone makes you more conscious.
Fear of failure makes you more keen and dynamic.
Fear moves you from carelessness to taking care.
Fear moves you from being insensitive to being sensitive.
Fear moves you from dullness to alertness.
When you are in love, when you are surrendered, there is no fear. Ego, too, knows no fear. But there is a difference, like that of heaven and earth, between these two types of fearless states.
Fear makes you righteous; fear brings you close to surrender; fear keeps you on the path; keeps you from being destructive. Peace and law are maintained on the planet because of fear.
How to Overcome it?
1. Sing, dance and celebrate. The very intention to celebrate will pull you away from anxiety to a more harmonious state.
2. Think about what you can do for others rather than just about yourself. Energize yourself with some service activity.
3. Combined practice of yoga, breathing and meditation.
4. Know the impermanence of the world.
5. Having faith and surrendering to the Divine and knowing that there is a supreme power who loves you. The supreme power is behind you and accepts you totally. The sense of security comes with the sense of belongingness.
6. Valour/courage: Invoking the lion within you and having an attitude of sacrifice will rescue you from fear.
7. Reminding yourself that you are committed to a greater goal will keep the fear away.
8. Being unpredictable for a while. Fear is always related to some anticipated action. Do something completely irrelevant and unpredictable.
9. Readiness to face the worst will leave you with stability in the mind.
10. Remembering a similar situation in the past when you were able to overcome your fear.
Chanakya : If none of theses work just come and be in the presence of the Master.

You are Love !
1- MEDITATE UPON LOVE! Any problem in your life would simply disappear
if only you would love more. Loving more is not about a clingy, needy or
controlling love. Big Love is more about loving for the sake of loving. It's free.
It's a "I don't need anything from you" loving. Remember who you are
and who you came here to be ... and that's Love.
2.Love that you are. To attract love, you must simply "be" love. One
way to do this, is to reach out and do something for someone else.
If you are too self-absorbed with feeling that you aren't appreciated
or loved enough by the people in your life, then it's because your focus
is on"lack": I'm not enough, I'm a victim, nobody loves me, etc. Certainly
it is most important to love yourself, and please do so, for when you love
yourself you are coming from your innate wholeness. There is nothing
lacking in you that making a decision to just be an expression of love
won't give you a "love rich" life.
3 - YOU CAN'T HAVE AN ATTITUDE & KEEP IT A SECRET!
Behavioral Modification's #1 Rule is simple:
Before you can change anyone else,
you must first change yourself.
What's getting in "love's way" in any unharmonious
relationship, is: fear, judgment and labeling.
To experience the Love that you want to radiate,
what you must change is your attitude.
What you must change to get a different result
are the limitations you've put on others.
What you must change is you!

LOVE'S WISDOM
I chant the name of my beloved in every breath. The beloved is faultless - perfect. But being in love I have lost my reputation. When there is so much love, you take total responsibility for any misunderstanding. You may express dismay for a moment on the surface. But when you do not feel that in your heart, you arrive at a perfect understanding. You are in a state where all problems and differences slide away and only love shines through.
Usually we get stuck in our differences, because we have lost sight of ourselves. In the name of love we try to manipulate and control the other person. This is natural that when we love somebody, we want them to be perfect.
You can never see the pits in the ground from the top of a hill. From a plane the earth looks so smooth. So also from a state of elevated consciousness, you do not see the pitfalls in others. But if you come to the ground you always see the holes. And when you want to fill the holes, you have to see them. You cannot build a home being airborne. You cannot till the land without looking at the pits, filling them, removing the pebbles....
That is why when you love somebody you find all the faults in them. But finding faults destroys love. Instead of filling the pits we run away from them. When you love somebody and see their faults, stay with them and help them fill the pits. This is wisdom.

WHISPERS FROM ETERNITY - God! God! God!
From the depths of slumber,
As I ascend the spiral stairway of wakefulness,
I whisper:
God! God! God!
Thou art the food, and when I break my fast
Of nightly separation from Thee,
I taste Thee, and mentally say:
God! God! God!
No matter where I go, the spotlight of my mind
Ever keeps turning on Thee;
And in the battle din of activity
My silent war cry is ever: God! God! God!
When boisterous storms of trials shriek,
And when worries howl at me,
I drown their clamor, loudly chanting:
God! God! God!
When my mind weaves dreams
With threads of memories,
Then on that magic cloth I find embossed:
God! God! God!
Every night, in time of deepest sleep,
My peace dreams and calls, Joy! Joy! Joy!
And my joy comes singing evermore:
God! God! God!
In waking, eating, working, dreaming, sleeping,
Serving, meditating, chanting, divinely loving,
My soul constantly hums, unheard by any:
God! God! God!

Gyan Yagya by Rishi Nityapragyaji:OFS! Prem may Bane Raho
I just attended a week long Gyan Yagya by Rishij Nityapragyaji which was indeed a journey from the material outer world to the deepest core of our self!! I will be sharing some of the knowledge which he gave us in the Yagya.

Divine Love and Longing ..
Today Morning read a Q & A by Gurudev ..and it triggered longing ..tears rolled down non-stop .. was observing how longing grows intense even though one knows that HE is always with us..that physical presence makes such a lot of difference at times. Countdown has started for Guru Poornima..eagerly waiting to see Gurudev finally after a gap of 380 days ..
here's the Q & A:
I feel like I want to be close to you and I don't know how. I love you Guruji.....
Sri Sri: It is good, heart breaks and love flows. In the world out there heart breaks and misery comes, but here when heart breaks, love flows and life blossoms. Good. Just assume you are already close to me and when you are smiling, when you do service, when you are in knowledge - you are so much close to me. And see more and more people get the benefit of this knowledge what you are having. Just turn back and see your life, how much it has changed as you did the practices, the meditations, your Kriya and relate to yourself the person who was there before doing the Kriya. What a big difference. Isn't it? How many of you feel you are not the same person. Almost everybody isn't it, so that benefit, that opening, we need to bring in others life as well, we need to do that.
Q: Comment about attraction, desire and entanglement. How can we avoid entanglement?
Sri Sri: You are the source of energy. Attraction happens when the energy on you wakes up. It is just electro-magnetic energy. One energy manifests at various points in the body (the seven chakras) as different flavours, different colours. When attraction gets satisfied very quickly, then love does not blossom in life. When attraction is difficult to attain, it turns into love; and when that love matures, it becomes unconditional, it turns into dedication or devotion, the ultimate.
Love and longing go together. If there is no longing, if u kill the longing, then love also slowly dies way. How can you keep the longing alive? By being centered, by being in yourself. Do not get completely lost in the other person, this becomes too much for the other person as well. Getting lost in the other person is called entanglement. If two lines run parallel, with some goal ahead, they will always be parallel, but if they focus only on one another, they will meet, cross and go in opposite directions! So, with attraction, you come together, meet and then separate; but if there is a goal, then the attraction remains forever. That’s why, in life, your charm is never lost when are well-founded and centered, when your attention is on the knowledge.
Love has no completion… because it is infinity. Something which has no boundary also has no completion. Radha is the longing, and Krishna is the love. Sometimes, the longing brings pain. To avoid the pain, you try to fill your space with something, but that pain makes you deep.
Am blessed to be in longing ... but at the sametime feel that some devotees are more blessed to have HIS darshan so frequently ..

Lord Ramachandra about building the Bridge
(This story is so similar to Silver Jubilee celebration - 2006 in Bangalore)
Lord Ramachandra was building the bridge to reach Lanka and kill Ravana. The monkeys were carrying huge stone to build this bridge. The strongest of all monkeys was Hanuman Ji and He was carrying the biggest boulders and throwing them in the sea to make the bridge.
There was a small spider who was also assisting Lord Rama to build the bridge by pushing very small sand particles.
When Haumana Ji saw the spider struggling to push small sand particles, he started laughing and asked spider -
Hanuman Ji - "What is the use of your effort?”
Lord Ramachandra called Hanuman Ji over and asked him
Lord Ramachandra - "Tell me why I am building that Bridge?”
Hanuman Ji - "Because you want to cross the ocean".
Lord Ramachandra - "This is not true. I don't have to cross the ocean.
Just a few minutes ago i dried the ocean simple by getting angry.
That's not the reason I could be there in one moment if I wanted.
Simply by writing my name the stones are floating in the ocean."
Lord Ramachandra - "How much more potent is it if I am there?”
Hanuman Ji - "Because you want to kill Ravana."
Lord Ramachandra - “If i want to kill Ravana all I have to do is leave his heart and he will die. Only because of my presence in his heart he is living."
Hanuman Ji - "Then why you are building this bridge?”
Lord Ramachandra - "To engage all of you in the devotional service and thus get purified. Like you the spider is also struggling and trying his best to engage in devotional service."
See Lord’s mercy - He is absolute, he can do anything and he don't need our help at all. He is complete - But His Causeless mercy is he love us so much and like a loving father wants us to be on right path But somehow don't understand his mercy.
Feel fortunate whenever his service come to you. He never ever forgets any service which you render to him.
We should feel so fortunate that he is showing his mercy to us. When he gives us any Job - It means we are blessed that he has shown his causeless mercy. Understand Him - Love Him - Serve him and then purify ourselves.

Leaking Pipe @ Ashram
An Experience Shared by Bawa
This is a story from about 12 years ago...
A few of us were sitting with Guruji and He suddenly said, oh… I need to go to the city, Raghu, go and see if the car is there or has it already left(This was the time when there was exactly one car in the Ashram and almost everyone used it, if they needed to go anywhere
As Raghu got up to check, Guruji motioned him to sit down, and said don’t bother, I will check from here… He closed His eyes for a few seconds (this was even before we had an intercom or even a telephone line on the Ashram), and said hmmm… the car has left about 15 minutes ago, never mind, I will go to the city tomorrow… We were all quite impressed with this, but i was very much in the “test the Guru” phase at the time and when we left the Kutir for lunch, quickly inquired from the reception if the car was there and what time did it leave… and it matched perfectly with what Guruji had mentioned!
A day or so later, i went to His Kutir at about 9 am. No one was there yet and He welcomed me in with a warm smile… but He looked a bit tired and i told Him so… He explained saying that, last night there had been a pipe which was broken on the Ashram and if it did not get fixed, no one would have had water in the morning…
So along with some other people Guruji had stayed awake for the better part of the night looking for the leaking pipe and then just a few hours ago, they had found it and gotten it fixed… and so He had slept only an hour or so So i asked Him, Guruji if You can sit on this chair and find out if the car had left or not, why did You just simply tell people where the leak was, and they could have got it fixed and everyone could have slept?!
He stood up… took my hand and looked deep into my eyes and said:
Enlightenment is not simply knowing everything. Enlightenment is knowing everything and then forgetting it!
Then He smiled mischievously and said, besides all of them (the people who stayed awake searching for the leak with Guruji) wanted to spend time with me

SNAKE IN AN ICU
Every moment around Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a lesson in the Art of Living!
I heard this latest story from Sangeeta Jani-
Recently a big King Cobra had been lying inside a water pipe in Guruji's Kutir.
When Guruji realised that the the snake had not moved for a couple of days, he had the snake gently removed from the pipe and called a veterinary doctor. The doctor dioganised the problem as that of food poisoning. Guruji was so concerned about the health of the snake that he had the snake moved to an intensive care unit in a veterinary hospital in Bangalore.
This is another glimpse of our master's unconditional love. His love is constant, be it male or female, rich or poor, human or animal.

Field of comfort
What you are looking for in life is comfort. Why do you need money? Because you want
comfort. Any need in any direction boils down to one word - comfort.
There are many levels of comfort. One is physical - if you are sitting on the grass you think, ‘oh, it would have been better if there was a cushion’’. Then there’s mental comfort - this is even more essential. If you have a comfortable home but the mind is not comfortable, you will not be able to sleep even on a comfortable bed.
Another type is emotional comfort - you have everything, but if someone close to you doesn’t speak to you or does something that hurts you, then your emotional comfort is gone. Then there’s spiritual comfort - this is comfort of the soul, which means total peace, an uninterrupted flow of peace, and joy from within.
Comfort means to be yourself. But where is comfort? Is it in the body or mind? It is in a combination of both. Sometimes when the body is not comfortable, the mind is also not comfortable and vice versa. You may have a very nice bed to rest but if you are disturbed, you cannot sleep. More than the body, comfort of the mind is important. The mind is three times more powerful than the body so mental comfort is three times more important than physical comfort.
And your comfort is based on commitment. So people’s commitment brings you comfort. For example, the milkman’s commitment to bring you milk gives you comfort. Similarly, your commitment should bring comfort to everyone else. Sometimes one says, ‘‘Oh, I am stuck with the commitment so I am unhappy.’’ Now, don’t think every commitment will be smooth from the beginning. If you are committed to complete your medical course, then there is bound to be some rough time in between.
But commitment can take you across all obstacles. And the greater the achievement, the greater the commitment. The more you commit, the more your capacity and capability to do any work. Commitment is always about something a little more. You don’t say, ‘‘I am committed to drink a glass of water or walk one kilometer’’, which you do anyway. If you think, ‘‘I can only do this much work’’, then your commitment has to be more than what you think you can do. Commitment is about stretching your capabilities.
Self confidence
Today we do not instill confidence and commitment in our youth. That is the main reason for poverty. So the youth keep blaming someone or the other, the government, the people, their parents or someone else. They don’t take responsibility for themselves. That makes them weak and they become dependent. And when there is so much dependence on everything around, there cannot be happiness or comfort.
So youth, wake up! You need not be bogged down by commitments. Have confidence, faith. At the same time, keep an open mind. Don’t get stuck miserably. A few minutes of quiet meditation, a few minutes of deep relaxation, a few minutes of singing from your heart will help you get through your commitments successfully.
There is so much talk about success everywhere. Everyone wants to be successful. Have you ever thought about what success is? It’s simply ignorance about one’s capabilities. Success is ignorance about the power of the self because you assume you can do only that much. So you have set a limitation to your self and whenever you cross your own boundary or limitation, you claim success.
You never say, ‘‘I successfully ate a banana!’’ When you put a limitation, then you are limiting the power of your own self, your own consciousness. Every time you achieve something, you feel proud about it, isn’t it? Actually, you should feel sorry about it. You are just proud about what you can easily do because you do not know you can do much more than what you are proud of. When you are successful, you are proud of it, and if you fail - you feel guilty and upset. Both can drag you out of your joy, out of the greater potentiality that you possess.
So the best thing is to surrender to the divine. If you are successful, so what? It is another happening, another thing that you did, and you can do much more. And if you couldn’t do something well, then, you couldn’t do it, that’s all. This moment, do you wish to do it again? Then have that Sankalpa, the intention - ‘‘I have to do it!’’ Then you will make good progress in that direction, without feeling guilty, or being judgmental.
Traits to watch out for Your craving, anger or aversion comes from hearing. When you are in a group, you have to watch out for two things - one is craving and the other is aversion. In the group when you see someone good, or nice, then your mind goes there, clings on to it. The cravings start developing in you and they eventually lead to anger, demand, frustration, etc. When you give anything to somebody - any help, kindness or love - with that craving, then that love will start to demand - ‘‘Look, I have been so good to you, you better be good to me.’’ Then all the negative qualities in you pop up and beauty is lost.
Watch out for cravings. A craving happens first for appreciation of talents and then you start getting attracted to it. Then attraction turns back into craving and all these things go on. The world that begins for you then is not a Divine world but a demonic world. So watch out for this craving in you, it will cling on to anybody. And then you will send a, ‘‘I miss you so much’’ card and tell, ‘‘Oh, you put me into so much longing, you are so good, I never met anybody like you!’’ and such expressions. All this happens not out of surrender or gratitude, but out of craving.
The other thing which you have to watch out for is aversion. When you are averse to
somebody, then also your mind is stuck. And body goes through a lot of physical twisting. It happens that you see the person and your stomach churns and you feel like walking away, running away, getting away. Not only that; you go on speaking about your aversion, about a thing or a person or a situation. Often your aversions reflect your own nature. What ever you are averse to and avoid doing, you will find that same thing in some form or the other. The same aversion reflects through your
own consciousness. Only the flavour may be different, the quality may be different but basically, you will also be stiff. Kick the complaints off your head! Kick out all the complaints from your head for if you keep them, then that head is not going to be very useful. It is such a good point! Because only then your consciousness which is like a flower is all blossomed, brilliant, blissful, peaceful, and full of love.
Cravings and obsessions take over you because of three basic reasons. One is when you are not focused. The second is the time in your life - there is a certain time when these obsessions and cravings reach the peak and come down. However much you understand, read books and tell your mind to avoid them, these forces become so strong that they take over you.
The third thing is the nature in your body. When there is too much rajas or rajogun or too much energy that is not channelled properly, then there’s obsession. This can also happen because of lack of nderstanding about the obsession or lack of understanding about truth, the reality.
But if you fail to conquer your obsession once, twice or even thrice, don’t lose heart. Don’t start to blame the knowledge and lose faith in it when it doesn’t work to control your obsession. It is working and it is controlling. Your weakness will enable you to pray deeper. So, when you really feel weak and incapable of doing something, prayer starts. When you want to be free from certain things, that wanting to be free can uplift you, elevate you. That is devotion.
Love all lovely
You cannot understand the sayings of Jesus if you are not alive with prana, with the life force. The knowledge will all be just a concept in the head. Only the heart can feel that heart Jesus and love are synonymous! If you say love, you need not say Jesus. If you say Jesus, that means love. Jesus said once, ‘‘If you call God in my name, if you ask God in my name, whatever you ask, shall be given... For God is love.’’ Such a complete expression of love is found in Jesus. Whatever little glimpses you may get here and there indicates that fullness, the ultimate expression of the inexpressible that life is striving to express throughout time.
Love goes with courage. Look at the courage Jesus had. He completely overthrows the
common concepts of people such as the strong will inherit the earth. He turns it around, ‘‘The meek shall inherit the earth. The meek shall inherit heaven.’’ For love makes you meek. However strong you are, when you are in love you are the weakest. Love is the strongest force in this universe and yet, it makes you meek... it makes you weak. Even a macho man will cry when he’s in love. Love makes you weak, but brings you the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus says, ‘‘Love each other as much as I love you.’’ It was impossible for someone not to recognise the love Jesus was, but since love makes you weak, it is also scary. Among thousands, just a few followed him. Many heard, but just a few came. That’s why he says, ‘‘Many will come and hear, but only a few will understand. Very few shall pass through the narrow path.’’
Even after showing all those miracles, only a handful could recognise and follow Jesus. They were not high intellectuals but simple innocent people. When Jesus said, ‘‘the kingdom of heaven is within you’’, they did not understand. They said, ‘‘which side of God will you be sitting, the right or left?’’ Once you go within, there is no right or left! There is no front or back. Jesus’ patience and compassion can only come out of love.
Very few understand what Jesus meant when he said: ‘‘I have put man against man, father against son, daughter against mother’’. Who you think are your friends are really not your friends because they make your faith in material things strong, and spirit less. ‘‘I have come to put one against each other. I’ve come to put fire, not make peace.’’ If Jesus had to say this, it is because he has seen the depth of slumber in people! When you talk something nice and peaceful, everybody will go to sleep! When there is something sensational, people wake up and hear. Newspapers are filled with such stories! This is the human mind.
Jesus did all he could to help one cross the mind and get into the soul, the spirit, the source of life, the Self. You break through the limited concept of relating yourself with something, or somebody, or identities, and recognise the Divinity within you, that you are much more than just a human. You are part of the Divine and you will inherit the kingdom, which is right here, right within you.
Somewhere he has said, ‘‘It was better if Judas had not been born at all.’’ Those words are not coming out of anger or frustration. Many times, when people don’t like somebody, they say, ‘‘I wish they were never born.’’ Here Jesus is saying, ‘‘Judas... I wish he was never born,’’ because he could feel the pain that Judas was undergoing. Judas played the role that he was ordained to play. He had no choice! And Jesus could feel that pain, that suffering that Judas was undergoing.
At one point, in the end, Jesus says, ‘‘I am not yet one with my Father, but go and tell them that I am one with my Father.’’ Scholars wonder why Jesus would tell such a lie. Also, that last moment when he said, ‘‘Forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.’’ Or when he said, ‘‘Oh, my God, my Father, have you forsaken me?’’ That one idea at the last thought that, ‘‘God has forsaken me,’’ kept the distance between ‘‘me and my Father’’. So Jesus said, ‘‘I am not yet one with my Father. I am at the doorstep of the house, but you tell the world I am already at home.’’
When someone is at home, it’s much easier for them. When they’re standing at the doorstep, waiting for the others — waiting in the rain, in the snow, in the storm, in the sun — that can only happen when there is so much love, so much compassion. Practically he is at home for the whole world.
The renowned sage Bodhisatva once said, ‘‘I’ll stand at the door of heaven, till all the people go in. I’ll be the last one to enter heaven. I’ll wait at the doorstep.’’ The same thing was true with Jesus. ‘‘I and my Father are one, say this to people.’’
You cannot understand the sayings of Jesus if you are not alive with prana, with the life force.
The knowledge will all be just a concept in the head. Only the heart can feel that heart. Otherwise, in the name of Jesus, in the name of God, in the name of religion, people kill each other. In the name of God, many wars have happened. For centuries men have fought on this planet in the name of God, in the name of prophets, in the name of religion. They had no clue of Jesus.
When there is authority there cannot be love, and where there is love there is no authority. Jesus is opening his arms and saying, ‘‘Come, you are my friend, don’t be afraid, don’t put me on the altar. Give me a seat in your heart. See me in everyone you see around you. Love everyone as much as I love you... Or as much as you love me, share that with everyone around.’’ What more do you want to see in that embodiment of love? But people still wanted proof. If Jesus came today, he would still be asked, ‘‘Prove to me you are the son of God.’’ So in those days too, he was asked to prove how he was the son of God, even after turning water into wine. This is because the mind dwells on proof. The mind cannot understand Jesus, only the heart can feel the presence of Jesus.
Those who crucified Jesus were not bad people... they were ignorant. They were stuck in their head. They were not born out of spirit, but they had read all the scriptures and books. They thought he was being blasphemous, that he did something criminal. Jesus never said, ‘‘I am suffering for your sin’’. That was just a way people used to awaken other people. The wise have many ways to lead one towards the truth and that was one of the ways. There are many things said like that, ‘‘Look, doomsday is coming, come on, wake up!’’ When Jesus was on this planet, those days were the darkest period. People were slaves; they were not highly educated nor aware. It was necessary in those days to say, ‘‘Come on, wake up! There’s going to be disaster!’’
Fear wakes one up from slumber. Otherwise, one is doing the same thing, repeating the same thing and not open to knowledge. The teachers in those days knew this psychology. Fear need not be a tool for someone who is sensitive, but it works for someone who is thick-skinned.
Jesus himself has said that the Divine is in the present. ‘‘Your mind has been stolen by the past or the future. I am here to bring it to the present moment. I am the only way. If you cannot see the Divinity in me when I am right in front of you, do you think you are going to see the Divinity in the future or in the past?’’ Jesus leads you to your own Being, your own self, your own Divinity that is deep within you.
The spirit is eternal and beyond birth or death. Spirit is love beyond name and form. When you are truly in love with Jesus, you will see Jesus in every name, in every form, in every nook and corner of the planet and beyond. If you are just imagining Jesus as a form limited to a certain time of history and place, then your growth is also limited, because you are limiting Jesus. Of course, if a name or form is very appealing to you, you can have it as your personal master.
Just go to the values that the Master truly represents and live them. Then he is not of the past, he is here now. And he will be in the future, also, forever and ever and ever.
What is life? Why am I here?
Certain questions indicate the maturity of our mind. Do you know what those questions are?
They are: What is life? What is the purpose of my life? Why am I here? What do I want? If these questions arise in your mind, it is a sign of the mind or intellect getting matured. Otherwise the mind is just in routine doing the same thing again and again, not even introspecting looking into the source of life.
These questions are vital. Where am I? Are you aware you are on this planet Earth? Have you ever thought “I am on planet Earth and this planet is in the solar system”? So, I am in the solar system. The solar system is just a dot in the Milky Way. So, I am in the Milky Way. This expansion of awareness to the macrocosm and being aware of where you are in this body is important.
Just sit with your eyes closed and ask yourself “where am I in this body”? Am I in the head, in the nose, in the heart? Where am I in the body? Then the sharpness of the mind happens, awareness happens. You are able to perceive that you are nowhere and you are everywhere in the body. A shift in the quality of awareness happens instantaneously. And it is this awareness that can eliminate stresses and sorrows from life. This awareness is called wisdom.
Every living being wants happiness, everyone wants to be in love. Everyone wants to be loved and everyone wants to give love. Right? There is not a single creature on this planet that doesn’t like love. And do you know that love is the cause of all misery also? Love is the cause of jealousy, anger, hatred, fear, everything. The basis of all problems in the world is again love!
You have two choices. You can be indifferent or be in love and go through the suffering. Is there any other third hope for being in love and not facing all the miseries? Yes. It is through awareness.
When we raise our consciousness, we become more aware of the sensation that is happening in the body and we see that the sensations change. An intense sensation that is pain and an intense sensation that is pleasure, both become pleasurable. Love and pain, they are very closely related. The symbol of Jesus on the cross means that the cross is pain and Jesus is love.
One is with the other. The transformation of this pain into bliss, the love into bliss is what happens with awareness. The same happens with doubts. Have you noticed doubts are always about something positive? We never doubt anything negative in life. You never doubt someone else’s anger or your anger. You never doubt your depression. Nobody ever doubts his/her depression. But when one is happy, one doubts, am I really happy? If someone tells you they hate you, you don’t doubt it
but if someone tells you they love you, you say: “Really? Are you sure?”
If we can doubt in the negativity of people, we become close to the reality. Do you see what I am saying? We take it for granted that everybody is a hoax or a fraud and then we try to find somebody we can trust. It becomes so difficult in the world. Sometimes you have a lot of doubts in your mind. But when you increase the energy level in your body, you will see that the doubts disappear. There is more clarity in the mind. Confusion goes away from the mind.
Without this awareness the mind shrinks. When the mind shrinks, the joy diminishes. Whenever we are happy, we feel that something in us is expanding and the expression of sadness is the contraction of mind. Meditation is a technique where the mind expands and relaxes. And whenever we are relaxed, we are expanding automatically. It is worth knowing this expansion because then nothing can disturb us or take our smile away. Otherwise, some small things can throw us off the balance. It is not worth letting your mind or your life undergo such suffering, such misery. Do you see that?
Finding life’s direction
A river needs two bunks to flow. The difference between flood and a flowing river is water flows regulated in a direction in a river. During floods the water is muddled and has no direction. Similarly, the energy in our life needs some direction to flow. If you don’t give direction, it is all confusion. Today most of the people are in confusion because there is no direction in life. When you are happy, there is so much of life energy in you; but when this life energy doesn’t know where to go, how to go, it gets stuck. When it stagnates, it rots! Just like how the water has to keep flowing, in the same way, life has to keep moving.
For life energy to move in a direction, commitment is essential. Life runs with commitment. If you observe every small thing or big thing in life, it goes with certain commitment. A student takes admission in a school or college with a commitment. You go to a doctor with a commitment saying that you are going to take the medication or listen to whatever the doctor says, right? The banks work on commitment. Government works on commitment.
Needless to say, a family runs on commitment: mother is committed to the child, child is committed to the parents, husband is committed to wife, and wife is committed to husband. Whether it is love or business or friendship or at work or any area of life you take, there is commitment, isn’t it?
What would really irritate you is non-commitment. If you just observe, you expect some commitment from someone and when they don’t do it, you get upset. Or when someone doesn’t keep up his or her commitment, you get upset. Commitment is essential in life. You cannot stand someone who does not commit, but see how much commitment have you taken in your life? Of course our commitment is proportional to what we have, our power, our capacity or capability. If you are committed to taking care of your family, that much capacity or power you gain. If your commitment is for the community, you will get that much energy, joy, that much power.
In life, what you always want is more joy, more power, more energy, isn’t it? You want more, anything you are given, you want more, more money, more fame, more beauty, more joy, more pleasure …this “wanting something more” bugs in your mind and that you do not look to your capabilities. More will be given to you only if you utilise properly what you already have!
This is a law in nature. Why should the nature give you more when you are stuck with your little mind? This tendency of wanting more is there in you; you only have to give a twist to it. Instead of “what more I can have”, just turn it around and start asking yourself “what more I can do?”.
Then you will see that there is joy. Nature of joy is to give because you are the source of joy! The more responsibility you take on, the more energy/power will come on to you. Greater the commitment you take, greater the energy/power you gain to fulfil that
commitment. Greater the commitment, easier things are. Smaller the commitment, suffocating it is for you. Smaller commitments suffocate you because you have more capacity, but you are stuck in a small hole! When you have ten things to do and even if one thing goes wrong, you can keep doing the ten things, that thing that has gone wrong will set right itself! But if you have only one thing to do and that goes wrong, then you are stuck with it.
Usually we think we should have resource and then we will commit. Greater the commitment you take, greater the resources will come to you automatically. You don’t have to sit and worry how you will get resources. When you have the intention to do something, resources simply flow when it is needed and how much it is needed.
In doing what you can do, there is nothing much about it, there is no growth.
Stretching a little beyond your capacity will increase your capacity. If you can take care of your town or your society, there is nothing great about doing that because it is within your capacity or capability. But if you stretch it and little more and take commitment to take care of the whole state, then you gain that much more power. As much as you take on the responsibility on your self, that much your capacity increases, your capability increases, your talents increase, your joy increases and that much you become one with the divine force. In whatever capacity you do something for the society, for the environment, for the creation, that much you progress further both materially and spiritually (value wise). The heart opens up with a feeling that you are part of everyone.
The technique to get depressed is to sit and think only about you! If you just sit and think, “what about me, what will happen to me?” you will thoroughly get depressed. The way to expand from individual to universal consciousness is to share others sorrow and joy. As you grow, your consciousness should also grow. When you expand in Knowledge with time, then depression is not possible. Your inner most source is joy. The way to overcome personal misery is to share universal misery! The way to expand personal joy is to share universal joy. Instead of thinking “what about me?” “What can I gain from this world?” Think “what can I do for the world?”
When everyone comes from the point of contributing to society, you have a Divine society.
We have to educate and culture our individual consciousness in order to expand in time with the Knowledge from “what about me?” to “what can I contribute?” A commitment can only be felt when it oversteps convenience. That which is convenient, you do not call commitment. If you just go on your convenience, your commitment falls apart causing more inconvenience! If you keep dropping your commitment because it is inconvenient, can you be comfortable? Often, what is convenient does not bring comfort, but gives an illusion of comfort. Whatever you are committed to brings you strength. If you are committed to your family then your family supports you, if you are committed to your society, you enjoy the support of society. If you are committed to God, God gives you strength. If you are committed to Truth, Truth brings you strength. Often one is not aware of this idea and that is why one is hesitant to commit to a greater cause. Also there is a fear that commitment would weaken one or take away one’s freedom. To the wise, their commitment is their comfort. Whenever their commitment is shaken, their comfort is also shaken. To the lazy, commitment is torture though it is the best remedy! Your commitment to a cause is bound to bring you comfort in the long run.
Are there any commitments that can be given up? Yes, commitments made with
shortsightedness can be given up because when you are committed without a vision, you feel stifled when your vision expands. When your commitment brings misery to many in the long run, it can be given up. Just like you run out of fuel in the car and you have to refill it again and again, in the same way your dedication and commitment runs out in the course of time and it needs constant renewal! Commitment in life grows toward a higher cause. The higher the commitment, greater is the good for all.
